beautiful American Wildlife Calendars for sale for just $12. These
fishing calendars feature many Idaho rivers, streams, and creeks and are
produced locally in Eagle. A portion of each calendar sold also benefits
ITU and the work we do for Idaho's cold water fisheries and their
habitat. So don't delay in picking up that last minute gift idea for
Christmas. The calendars are perfect for the home or office and can be
purchased with same day delivery by phoning David Scott at 424-1251,

Directions to the Meeting
The December club meeting is Dec. 13th. The meeting is back at the
GARDEN CITY City Hall Auditorium. The address is 201 E. 50th
Street, just off of Chinden Boulevard (between Chinden and the Boise
River). 50th Street is between Veterans Parkway and Glenwood
Avenue, and a little closer to Glenwood. It is best to park at the back of
the building and go in the back door. The times are the same: 6:30 p.m.
for fly tying and 7:30 p.m. for the program. These monthly meetings are
a joint meeting for the Ted Trueblood Chapter of Trout Unlimited and
the Boise Valley Fly Fishers.
FOURTH ANNUAL TREASURE VALLEY FLY FISHING
SEMINAR
Mark January 20 on your 2001 calendars folks and reserve that day for
some great fly fishing camaraderie. BVFF, TU and the Boise Valley
Woolly Buggers will again be sponsoring a fly fishing extravaganza to
be held in the Student Union Building at Boise State University. We will
again be inviting a bunch of our areas best fly tiers for an all day fly
tying marathon. There will be ongoing programs and presentations and
commercial fly fishing enterprises will be represented at the show. Fly
fishing and conservation organizations will have booths. Based on the
large turn out last year, we have reserved a much bigger facility in the
Jordan Ballroom. If you have suggestions for improving the show or
would like to help in the effort, call Rick Prange at 336-9167 or e-mail
him at: rprange@micron.
Conservation News
The City of Boise is on board as a supporter of the Boise River side
channel construction project at Harris Ranch. By the time you read this
the City Council will have approved a budget item in their Nov. 28
"consent agenda" to provide an additional $10,000 to Boise Parks and
Recreation Department as support for this trout spawning and rearing
project.
Representatives from the Ted Trueblood Chapter, Harris Ranch, and
Boise Parks and Recreation met with Boise Mayor Brent Coles in
September and presented him the side channel proposal as an excellant
partnership opportunity for the city because the side channel will be
constructed in an area that will eventually become a city park. The mayor
responded with enthusiasm and support for the project, recommending
$10,000 of city funds.
Idaho Department of Fish and Game is also on board in their support to
see this project become a reality. At a September meeting of several
agencies gathered to discuss the project, Regional Fisheries Manager
Dale Allen pledged Department support of technical help and
construction support. The timing of construction will have to fit the
schedule of the Department's construction equipment, most likely about
a year from now.
In addition, Trueblood member Steve Sweet has stepped up and
volunteered to provide his expertise as a hydrologist to help in the
channel design and shepherding the project through the permitting
process. Steve works as a consultant with the local firm Quadrant
Consulting, and has much experience working with Boise River issues.
With these events the construction of this side channel habitat will
become a reality in 2001.
