Started in 2003, Island Creek is at the west end of Eagle Island and provides rearing habitat to the Boise River near where the north and south branches cobibe into one channel. The condition of the channel prior to the restoration project was that of a swale with undefined banks and covered in parrot feather, an aquatic invasive plant.
This project ended up creating habitat for salmonid spawning and rearing in a tributary to the Boise River for the purposes of restoring designated beneficial uses that are not fully supported in the Boise River. The restored channel is about 3,300 feet (slightly over 1/2 mile) in length.
A few years later we tested equipment to remove sand and silt from the stream and it works pretty well.
