Pierce Creek Reconnect

Pierce Creek is a small tributary to the South Fork Boise River and in 2011 a new bridge replaced a culvert and fish passage was restored to the creek. The project was a cooperative venture of the Ted Trueblood Chapter, Mountain Home Highway District, Boise National Forest, Southwest Idaho Resource Advisory Committee and Idaho Fish and Game. Here is a video of the project.

The Elk and Pony wildfires of August 2013 burned over the area and subsequent rain storms caused massive debris flows in Pierce Creek. The bridge abutments of the new bridge were vulnerable to being compromised as the creek had downcut. In 2018 the abutments were replaced and the bridge secured for the future.
